Apply for up to $500 in funding to create your prototype

The Innovation Prototype Award allows students to develop their ideas, solve a relevant problem, and to test their concept. We want students to DREAM. BUILD. TEST.

Prototype Awards of up to $500 reimbursable cash will be given to selected students to assist with prototype construction. In order to be considered for an award, students must provide both an itemized budget and complete the form below.

All  students will be asked to submit an itemized list with costs and quantity of all materials they will use the award for. Applicants are approved on a rolling basis with the final date for submission being March 16, 2023.

Awards can only be used to buy materials and supplies for prototype construction. Students participating in project courses where funds are provided by Georgia Tech are not eligible for this award. Be sure to include the names and emails of all team members when submitting an application.

Funding is only available when the fall and spring semesters are in session.

Funding can be used to pay for materials, software, or to pay individuals to complete services that are core function of an idea, initiative, or venture. Funding cannot be used to pay individuals for their time as a stipend, wage, to conduct research, or to pay for living expenses.

To receive a Prototype Award, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a full-time undergraduate degree-seeking student at Georgia Tech
  • Have a feasible line-by-line budget that does not include items already included in perks available to students at Georgia Tech
  • A plan for a buildable product/software, etc. that will test their idea

Decisions for these Prototype Awards are made on a weekly basis and are decided only by the information within the application. A member of the Student Innovation team will reach out via email once a decision is made.

If approved, students receive up to $500 in reimburseable funding
